A man, alleged to be a liquor mafia and notorious criminal, today escaped and two policemen sustained injuries when unidentified persons opened fire at a van in which he was being taken to Ajmer jail after being produced in local court in Didwana twon of Nagaur district, a senior police official said.
"After hearing in a case in Didwana court, the accused Anandpal Singh was being taken back to Ajmer Central jail by policemen.
"In Parbatsar area in Nagaur district, a vehicle suddenly came before the police van and some unidentified men opened fire at the van which left two policemen injured," IG Ajmer Malini Agrawal told PTI.

Singh was alleged to have been involved in cases of smuggling of liquor and arms, murder, extortion among others.
He was arrested with another criminal from a farm house near Jaipur with one AK-47 rifle and over 500 live cartridges in November 2012.
He had allegedly killed Jivan Ram Godara in Didwana town of Nagaur district in 2006. Godara was also involved in the liquor business and was politically active at the local level.
Singh allegedly was also involved in the murder of a Jat Mahasabha leader Gopal Fogawat in April 2006 in Sikar district.
The murders created tension and the Jat community had sat on Dharna demanding arrest of the culprits, who they alleged, had political patronage.
