22-year-old Anjan Das was caught by the police on April 5 as he was found loitering aimlessly at the Howrah station complex.

Suffering from psychosis disorder, he was admitted to the state-run Pavlov Mental Hospital here on the same day.

"He was not in the mental state to even tell us about his background. After a long treatment here, he could give us the phone number of his acquaintances in Mumbai after which we could contact his family," Shukla Das Barua, project co-coordinator of NGO Anjali Mental Health Rights Organisation, told PTI.

His brothers Ashok and Kajal Das came down to Kolkata today to take him home.

"We had no idea where he was after he took a train to Gaya from Mumbai. He was beaten up by miscreants on his way, all his money and belongings were taken away. He was left without even identity cards," Kajal said.

Now in a stable condition, Anjan was today discharged from hospital and sent back to Mumbai.
