A 34-year-old Nepalese man, found wandering on the streets of the city, has been reunited with his family with the help of a Kasargod-based non-governmental organisation.
Manoj Kadukha, who had disappeared from his hometown in Nepal three years ago, was found near Mangaladevi temple about three months ago.
On receiving information from local people, police took him to Snehalaya Psycho Social Rehabilitation Centre at Manjeshwaram in Kasargod district of Kerala where his condition improved.
With the help of a Nepalese student at a Medical College here, the Snehalaya authorities traced his family, Joseph Crasta of Snehalaya Rehabilitation Centre said.
Crasta said the centre had united 82 people with their families in its five years of service.
Kadukha left for Chennai from Mangaluru along with his father and a relative yesterday.
His father said he had been confined to the house for nine years after he started undergoing treatment for mental illness before he went missing suddenly one day.
They had lost all hope of finding him and were happy at the reunion, he said.
