A 35-year-old woman was found dead with her throat slit in outer Delhi's Aman Vihar area, with the police suspecting that she might have been killed after a failed rape bid.

The woman was mentally challenged and worked as a rag picker. Her body was found yesterday, police said.

Her husband passed away around seven years ago and she lived with her three children, including a son, at Mahawat Colony in the area, a senior police officer said.

She went missing on the morning April 18 but her family members did not lodge a police complaint since she had a habit of leaving home and returning after a couple of days, he said.

Her body found near the office of a multinational firm in Prem Nagar with injuries on her mouth and nose, and throat slit.

A probe has been started with the suspicion that she could have been sexually assaulted before being killed.

The area is quite secluded and close to a jungle, so the police do not have leads in terms of any CCTV footage.
