A mentally unwell man hacked his 60-year-old mother to death and injured his father in Jalna in Maharashtra on Thursday night, police said.
The incident happened in Gokulwadi village in Badnapur tehsil here, an official said.
"Dilip Chavan (36) attacked and killed his mother Thukkubai with an axe. His father Uttam (70) received serious head injuries and is hospitalised. The accused is mentally unwell and his wife left him for the same reason, kin have told us," he said.
