Mentha oil extend gains, up 0.54% on rising demand

Continuing its rising streak for the third straight day, mentha oil prices rose further by 0.54 per cent to Rs 1,905.50 per kg in futures trading today as speculators engaged in enlarging their positions, tracking a firm trend at spot on surging demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in December rose by 10.30, or 0.54 per cent to Rs 1,905.50 per kg in business turnover of 134 lots.

On similar lines, the oil for delivery in January was trading higher by Rs 10, or 0.52 per cent to Rs 1,929.20 per kg in 27 lots.

Marketmen said besides strong demand from consuming industries in the spot market, tight stocks position on fall in supplies from Chandausi, kept mentha oil prices higher at futures trade.
