Mentha oil falls by 0.3% on sluggish demand

Speculators trimmed positions, taking negative cues from spot market on subdued demand from consuming industries

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Mentha oil prices were down by 0.30% to Rs 1,107.70 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions, taking negative cues from spot market on subdued demand from consuming industries.

Besides, adequate stock in the physical market on higher supplies from producing belts put pressure on mentha oil prices.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in June fell by Rs 4.30, or 0.30% to Rs 1,107.70 per kg in a business turnover of 1,486 lots.

On similar lines, the oil for delivery in July contracts shed Rs 2.80, or 0.25% to Rs 1,125.70 per kg in 503 lots.

Market analysts said besides a fall in demand from consuming industries, adequate stocks in the physical market on higher arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh, led to fall in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
