Mentha oil dips 0.84% on profit-booking

Higher arrivals from producing areas, subdued spot demand exert pressure on prices

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Mentha oil prices were down by 0.84 per cent to Rs 911.40 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid subdued demand from consuming industries in the spot market.

Besides, adequate stocks in the physical market on increased arrivals from producing regions put pressure on prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May eased Rs 7.70, or 0.84 per cent, to Rs 911.40 per kg in a business turnover of 91 lots.

The June contract traded lower by Rs 5.80, or 0.62 per cent, to Rs 924.70 per kg in 302 lots.

The fall in mentha oil prices in futures trade was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators at existing levels driven by sluggish demand in the spot market, marketmen said.
