Mentha oil futures fell by 0.55 per cent to Rs 1,044.70 per kg in futures market today as speculators locked-in gains at prevailing levels, driven by sluggish demand against ample stocks position.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in February month fell by Rs 5.80, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 1,044.70 per kg in business turnover of 19 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in January contracts was trading lower by Rs 5.10, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 1,037.50 per kg in 110 lots.

The slide in mentha futures was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators after recent gains, driven by a fall in demand in the spot market against ample stocks on increased supplies from producing regions, analysts said.
