Mentha oil prices went down by 0.79 per cent to Rs 740.60 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at existing higher levels amid fall in demand in the spot market.

Besides, adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh put pressure on mentha oil.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in December moved down by Rs 5.90, or 0.79 per cent to Rs 740.60 per kg in business turnover of 460 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in January next year traded lower by Rs 6, or 0.79 per cent to Rs 751.70 per kg in 263 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in mentha oil prices at futures trade was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels and fall in demand in the spot market.
