Mentha oil prices inched up by 0.07 per cent to Rs 904.30 per kg in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions due to pick-up in demand from consuming industries in the spot market.

Furthermore, tight stock position on fall in arrivals from producing belts fuelled the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in October traded higher by 60 paise, or 0.07 per cent, to Rs 904.30 per kg, in a business turnover of 77 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in November edged up by 50 paise, or 0.05 per cent, to Rs 914 per kg in 152 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders on the back of uptick in demand from consuming industries in the spot market against restricted supplies from Chandausi helped mentha oil prices to trade marginally up in futures trade.
