Mentha oil futures extend gains on rising demand

Mentha oil remained higher for the second straight day by gaining 0.55 per cent to Rs 901.50 per kg in futures trade today as participants engaged in enlarging their positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on rising demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in September month rose by Rs 5, or 0.55 per cent to Rs 901.50 per kg in business turnover of 384 lots.

On similar lines, the oil for delivery in August contracts gained Rs 3, or 0.33 per cent to Rs 891 per kg in 52 lots.

Market analysts said increasing of positions by traders on the back of rising demand from consuming industries in the spot markets against restricted arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh kept mentha oil prices higher at futures trade.
