Mentha oil futures fall 1.12% on sluggish demand

Mentha oil prices fell by 1.12 per cent to Rs 822.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced positions amid sluggish demand from consuming industries in spot market.

Besides, adequate stocks in physical markets following increased arrivals from producing regions put pressure on mentha oil.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in March fell by Rs 9,40, or 1.12 per cent, to Rs 822.50 per kg in a business turnover of 977 lots.

Similarly, oil for delivery in April declined by Rs 8.90, or 1.05 per cent, to Rs 833.70 per kg in 468 lots.

Analysts said cut in positions by speculators and subdued demand from consuming industries in spot market against increased arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh pulled down mentha oil prices at futures trade.
