Mentha oil fell 1.67 per cent to Rs 941 per kg in futures trade today after speculators cut down their bets, triggered by muted demand in spot markets.

Besides, adequate stocks position on increased supplies from producing belts also put pressure on mentha oil.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange market, mentha oil for delivery in July eased by Rs 16 or 1.67 per cent to Rs 941 per kg in a business turnover of 529 lots.

In a similar fashion, the oil for delivery in August contracts shed Rs 15.70 or 1.62 per cent to Rs 953 per kg in 867 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by speculators amid sluggish demand from consuming industries in the spot markets mainly kept pressure on mentha oil prices at futures trade.
