Mentha oil prices softened by 0.19 per cent to Rs 1,040.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed their exposure amid easing demand from consuming industries in the spot market against adequate stocks position.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in January 2017 contracts declined by Rs 2, or 0.19 per cent, to Rs 1,040.50 per kg in business turnover of 153 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in December month contracts shed Rs 1.90, or 0.18 per cent to Rs 1,030 per kg in 47 lots.

Analysts said trimming of positions by participants due to a fall in demand from consuming industries in spot market against ample stocks, mainly helped mentha oil prices to trade lower at futures trade.
