Mentha oil down 0.7% on higher supply

Oil for delivery in June contract down 0.55%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Mentha oil prices declined by 0.69 per cent to Rs 876.80 per kg in futures trade today as participants trimmed positions, triggered by higher supplies from producing region amid lower demand in spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May traded lower by Rs 6.10, or 0.69 per cent, to Rs 876.80 per kg in business turnover of 513 lots.

Also, the oil for delivery in June contract shed Rs 5, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 892 per kg in 597 lots.

Market analysts attributed the fall in mentha oil futures to offloading of positions by speculators following increased supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh and a decline in demand in the spot market.
