Mentha oil futures slip 4% on profit-booking

Mentha oil futures fell 4 per cent to hit the lower circuit of Rs 1,483.90 per kg today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid fall in demand at the spot market.

Besides, adequate stocks position on higher supplies from major producing belt of Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh fuelled the downtrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in this month's contract declined by Rs 61.80, or 4 per cent, to hit an lower limit at Rs 1,483.90 per kg in a business turnover of 69 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in August traded lower by Rs 60.70, or 3.87 per cent, at Rs 1,508 per kg in 551 lots.

 

Analysts said besides profit-booking by participants, fall in demand from consuming industries at the spot market against ample stocks position weighed on mentha oil futures.
