Mentha oil prices were down by 0.55 per cent to Rs 985.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at current levels amid weak demand from consuming industries in the spot market.

Besides, adequate stocks in the physical market on increased arrivals from producing regions put pressure on prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in June month fell by Rs 5.50, or 0.55 per cent to Rs 985.50 per kg in business turnover of 592 lots.

On the similar lines, the oil for delivery in July contracts moved down by Rs 5.30, or 0.53 per cent to Rs 1,002.00 per kg in 162 lots.

Marketmen attributed the fall in mentha oil prices in futures trade to profit-booking by speculators at existing levels coupled with subdued demand in the spot market.
