Mentha oil prices rose 0.38 per cent to Rs 1,035 per kg in futures market today as participants widened holdings on the back of rising demand from consuming industries at the spot market coupled with restricted arrivals from producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in April rose Rs 4, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 1,035 per kg, clocking a business volume of 16 lots.

The oil for this month delivery traded higher by Rs 3.90, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 1,028.20 per kg with a trading volume of 81 lots.

Marketmen said, raising of bets by speculators, driven by rising demand from consuming industries in the spot markets against restricted supplies from Chandausi, led to the rise in mentha oil prices in futures trade.
