Mentha oil prices rose 1.41 per cent to Rs 1,337 per kg in futures market today as speculators created positions amid pick-up in demand from consuming industries in the domestic spot market.

Furthermore, tight stocks position on restricted supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh too supported the upside in prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in April month rose Rs 18.60, or 1.41 per cent, to Rs 1,337 per kg, clocking a business volume of 577 lots.

The oil for current month delivery also traded higher by Rs 14.80, or 1.03 per cent, at Rs 1,450 per kg, with a trading volume of 188 lots.

Marketmen said increased bets by speculators, driven by firm demand from consuming industries in the spot market against restricted supplies from Chandausi, led to the rise in mentha oil prices.
