Mentha oil prices rose 1.05 per cent to Rs 1,169.10 per kg in futures market today as speculators created positions amid pick-up in demand from consuming industries in the domestic spot market.
Furthermore, tight stocks position on restricted supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh too supported the upside in prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in the current month rose Rs 12.10, or 1.05 per cent, to Rs 1,169.10 per kg, clocking a business volume of 356 lots.
The oil for April delivery also traded higher by Rs 10.80, or 0.94 per cent, at Rs 1,160.70 per kg, with a trading volume of 64 lots.
Marketmen said increased bets by speculators, driven by firm demand from consuming industries in the spot market against restricted supplies from Chandausi, led to the rise in mentha oil prices.
