Mentha oil prices rose 0.83 per cent to Rs 967.40 per kg in futures market today as participants widened holdings on the back of rising demand from consuming industries at the spot market coupled with restricted arrivals from producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in December rose Rs 8 or 0.83 per cent to Rs 967.40 per kg, clocking a business volume of 122 lots.

The oil for November delivery traded higher by Rs 7.40 or 0.78 per cent to Rs 957.70 per kg with a trading volume of 284 lots.

Marketmen said raising of bets by speculators, driven by rising demand from consuming industries in the spot markets against restricted supplies from Chandausi led to rise in mentha oil prices in futures trade.
