Increasing number of merchants want to adopt an all-in-one tablet solution for their business needs as they are happy with the practical use of such device, says an industry report.

According to a report, as many as 57 per cent of merchants polled that they want to switch to an all-in-one tablet to streamline their business while 56 per cent found them to be very appealing and user-friendly.

Sixty seven per cent of them believe that this solution can help them in inventory management and guaranteed check deposits.

It can be noted that the changing technology has led the retail format stores to a sea-change-- growing from small stores to large format to multi-specialty stores to super specialty stores today, says Nitish Asthana of First Data India and ICICI Merchant Services, which has one of the largest POS terminals in the country.

Most shop-owners are looking for all-in-one solution to all their needs which is easily accessible in terms of the operations management of the store, he adds quoting from the survey data.

The survey, called 'Universal Commerce' was carried out by First Data Corporation recently among domestic merchants to understand their preference to such an application.

According to Asthana, integration of interface allows consumers to have a better experience and merchants to have a better organised structure to track customer preferences and increase their business revenue.

According to the survey while 58 per cent merchants find the universal commerce concept appealing, the customers lap it up as 69 per cent of consumers believe that the idea of universal commerce is appealing.

More than three quarters of merchants say their employees use smartphones to help customers, while two-thirds of them have a website and ability to transact online, says the survey.
