Mercury continues to hover below normal in Punjab, Haryana

The maximum temperatures today continued to hover below normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana.

Chandigarh, which received light rains for the third consecutive day, recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, said the MeT department.

In Haryana, Karnal registered a high of 36 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal, while Ambala's maximum settled at 36.1 degrees Celsius, also one notch below normal. Hisar recorded a high of 39.6 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a high of 30.6 degrees Celsius, eight notches below normal. Ludhiana and Patiala recorded below normal maximum temperatures of 34.5 and 35.9 degrees Celsius respectively.
 

The MeT department has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers at a few places in Punjab and Haryana over the next two days.
