Summer seems to be in the offing here as the mercury today crossed the 40-degree Celsius mark in the national capital, the first time this season.
According to the MeT Department, with the sun shining bright and no signs of clouds and rains which had kept mercury at comfortable levels so far, the day temperature was recorded at 40.6 degrees Celsius, which was four notches above normal for this season.
Humidity level oscillated between 25 per cent and 79 per cent.

Earlier, the minimum temperature had settled at 21.6 degree Celsius which was normal for this part of the season.
Yesterday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 28.8 degrees Celsius and 38 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The weatherman has predicted slight mist in the morning and a partly cloudy sky during the day.
The maximum temperature may settle around 41 degrees Celsius while the minimum is expected to hover around 23 degrees Celsius.
