The mercury crossed the 40-degree mark at many places in Uttar Pradesh while Etawah was the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 42.4 degrees Celsius.
Maximum temperatures remained above 40 degrees Celsius in Kanpur, Ballia, Jhansi, Fursatganj, Allahabad, Sultanpur and Varanasi.
The MeT department has predicted dry weather tomorrow with the sky remaining clear and the maximum and minimum temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively.
