People in Punjab and Haryana

got respite from hot weather conditions with maximum temperatures dropping several notches below normal in most parts of both the states following rainfall yesterday.

In Punjab, Amritsar's maximum temperature was recorded at 36.6 degrees Celsius while Ludhiana and Patiala witnessed a high of 34.6 and 34.1 degrees Celsius, up to four notches below normal, the MeT Department said.

In Haryana, Ambala and Bhiwani recorded maximum temperatures of 33.3 and 36.2 degrees Celsius respectively, up to four degrees below normal.

Chandigarh recorded maximum of 33.7 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal.

Maximum temperature in Hisar, Karnal and Narnaul was 37, 34 and 33.2 degrees Celsius respectively, up to six degrees below normal.

 

According to the MeT Department's forecast, light rains/ thundershowers may occur at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana in the next 24 hours.
