Mercury drops in higher and hills of Himachal

Mercury dropped by a few notches in mid and higher hills of Himachal Pradesh as the sky remained overcast and sharp showers lashed the state today.

The maximum day temperature dropped to 35.2 degree at Una from 37.4 degree yesterday while the minimum temperature slipped marginally to 15.0 degree.

Shimla and surrounding areas were lashed by high velocity winds accompanied by intermittent showers, causing a fall in temperature.

The strong winds and stormy conditions were not conducive to apple, stone fruits and standing wheat crops and farmers are keeping their fingers crosssed in view of prediction of rains and thunderstorm in various parts of the state from April 15 onwards.
 

Nahan recorded a high of 30.5 degree, followed by Sundernagar 29.9 degree, Bhuntar 29.4 degree, Solan 26.8 degree, Dharamsala 25.2 degree, Shimla 21.5 degreee and Kalpa 17.8 degreee, a drop of one to two degrees.

The minimum temperature remained moderate at 1.4 degree at Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti while Manali and Kalpa recorded a low of 5.4 degree. Nahan was the hottest durting the night with minimum temperature at 17.7 degree Shimla, Solan and Bhuntar recorded a low of 12.0 degree followed by Sundernagar 13.3 degree and Dharamsala 14.2 degree.
