Mercury hovers below normal in Punjab, Haryana

The maximum temperature at most places in Punjab and Haryana hovered slightly below the normal limits today, said the MeT Department here.

Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a maximum temperature of 34.9 degrees Celsius, said a MeT report.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a high of 35 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal, after light showers lashed the holy city.

Ludhiana, which too witnessed a light rain, recorded a maximum temperature of 34.3 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal.

Patiala registered a high of 34.9 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal, following moderate showers.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a maximum temperature of 35.4 degrees Celsius, while Karnal recorded a high of 34 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal.
 

However, Hisar had a hot day at 38.5 degrees Celsius.

The MeT Department has forecast the possibility of rains or thundershowers at a few places in the two states tomorrow.
