Mercury hovers close to normal in Punjab, Haryana

Maximum temperatures hovered close to normal levels in Punjab and Haryana today, even as light rain lashed a few places.

Chandigarh, joint capital of the two states, recorded a maximum temperature of 33.2 degrees Celsius, the MeT Department said.

In Haryana, Ambala and Karnal recorded a high of 33.5 and 32 degrees Celsius respectively.

In Punjab, the maximum temperature at Amritsar settled at 32.5 degrees Celsius after 8 mm of rain lashed the holy city during the day, it said.

Ludhiana and Patiala, which received light rain, registered maximum temperatures of 31.6 and 32.7 degrees Celsius respectively, MeT added.
