Press Trust of India New Delhi
It was a hot day in the national capital today as the mercury headed upwards under sunny skies but stopped just a little short of the 40 degrees Celsius mark.

According to the MeT department, the maximum in the city was recorded at 39.2 degrees, which was one notch below the normal for this time of year. The mercury had yesterday touched 38.3 degrees.

The minimum was at 26.5 degrees, or one notch above normal and 2.5 degrees higher than the 24 degrees yesterday.

Humidity in air fluctuated between 23 and 55 per cent.

After several days of mild weather, when temperatures stayed in the mid-30s mainly due to cloudy skies, it is now back to bright, sunny conditions for Delhiites which is slowly pushing the mercury upwards.

The weatherman has predicted mainly clear skies tomorrow with the maximum and minimum expected to settle at around 38 and 27 degrees.
