Delhi witnessed a cold day on Tuesday, recording a minimum temperature of 5.7 degrees Celsius, an official of the MeT Department said.

The mercury is likely to drop to 4 degrees Celsius by December 28, he said.

On Tuesday, the city recorded a high of 17.2 degrees Celsius, which was four notches below the normal.

Cold conditions, low wind speed and high humidity led to a decline in the air quality, which stood at 383 at 4 pm.

The wind speed is likely increase to 12-14 kmph on Thursday, which may improve the air quality slightly. However, it will decrease again December 27 onwards.

Dense fog is predicted on Wednesday morning.
