Mercury picks up, Barmer hottest at 44.4 degrees C

After a short spell of pleasant weather, mercury again shot up by a few degrees Celsius in most parts of Rajasthan with Barmer recording maximum temperature of 44.4 degree C.

Though the western disturbance and dusty winds prevailed in parts of North-West of the state, but the Mercury ascended by one to three degree C at many places due to fresh dry weather conditions, a met official said.

Meanwhile, Phalodi recorded a maximum temperature of 43 degree C followed by Jodhpur 41.4, Kota 41.1, Bikaner 40.6, Jaisalmer and Churu 40 degree C.

Jaipur recorded a maximum of 38.8 degree with cloudy weather conditions.
 

Dust storm, thunder storm with rains may occur at isolated places in East Rajasthan and sand storm in west of the state in next 24 hours, a forecast said.
