Mercury rose across Himachal Pradesh with the maximum temperature settling above the 30 degrees Celsius mark at several places in the state.
Una in Shivalik foothills reeled under scorching heat as mercury soared to 42.2 degrees Celsius, while Kalpa in tribal Kinnaur district recorded a high of 26.0 degrees Celsius, over four notches above season's normal.
The local MeT office has predicted dry weather in the region over the next two days and warned of thunderstorm and hailstorm in mid and lower hills on June 6.
It also predicted another wet spell in the region from June 6 onwards with mid and lower hills experiencing rains and thunder and hail storm and rains or snow at isolated places in higher hills.
Day temperatures rose by three to four notches and Sundernagar, Bhuntar and Nahan recorded maximum temperatures of 37.2, 36.6 and 36.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Solan (35), Dharamsala (32.8), Shimla (28.7, Kalpa (26) and Manali (25.6).
Manali was colder at night as compared to tribal areas with minimum temperature at 8.4 degrees Celsius, while Kalpa and Keylong in tribal Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti recorded a low of 9.4 and 11.0 degrees Celsius, followed by Bhuntar (15.4), Solan (17.5), Shimla and Sundernagar (both 17.8), Palampur (19.5), Dharamsala (20.2), Una (23) and Nahan (24.7).
