With rains eluding most areas, maximum temperatures in Punjab and Haryana today settled above normal limits at few pockets as the region continued to face high humidity levels, adding to the woes of the people.
The maximum temperatures in twin agrarian states of Punjab and Haryana hovered between one to four degrees Celsius, the Met office said here, adding that the relative humidity levels ranged between 75 to 90 per cent in the region.
Barring Ludhiana which received 1.7 mm of rainfall, the entire Punjab and Haryana faced dry weather.
However, the Met predicted light to moderate rainfall at isolated places in the neighbouring states during the next 24 hours.
Bhiwani and Hisar were the hottest places in the region with an identical high of 37 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal.
While Amritsar settled at a high of 36.8 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal, the maximum at Patiala and Narnaul was 36 deg C each, three notches above normal.
Among other places, Ludhiana had a high of 35.5 deg C, two notches above normal followed by 35.4 deg C at Ambala, two notches above normal and 35.2 deg C at Chandigarh, also two notches above normal.
Meanwhile, Karnal in Haryana had a high of 35 deg C, which was four notches above normal.
