Hisar was the hottest place at 40.4 deg C, up four notches, in the region, the MeT office said here.
Bhiwani also experienced a hot day at 39.6 deg C, up by two notches while the high at Rohtak settled at 38.9 deg C, three above normal. Narnaul and Ambala had highs of 39.2 deg C and 36.9 deg C respectively.
In Punjab, Amritsar was the hottest at 39.7 deg C, up three degrees while Jalandhar's maximum was 38 deg C.
Ludhiana, Patiala and Chandigarh, the capital of both the states, recorded maximum temperatures at 36.4 deg, 36.8 deg and 35.8 deg Celsius respectively.
The MeT office has forecast light to moderate rain or thunder showers at isolated places in both the states over the next two days.
