Mercury soars in Raj; Churu hottest at 42 deg C

Heat wave conditions prevailed in parts of desert state of Rajasthan, with Churu city remaining the hottest place recording a maximum temperature of 42 degree Celsius followed by Kota at 41.6 degree Celsius.

Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions were observed in western parts of the state, with Bikaner, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Jaipur registering a maximum of 41.2 degree Celsius, 41.4 degree Celsius, 41 degree Celsius, 40.4 degree Celsius and 40.3 degrees respectively, the MeT said.

Dabok, Ajmer and Sriganganagar recorded day temperatures of 39.4 degree Celsius, 39.2 degree Celsius and 39 degree Celsius respectively, it said.

The weather conditions would remain the same during the next 24 hours, the MeT said.
