Mercury stays above normal in Punjab, Haryana

The maximum temperatures continued to hover a few notches above normal in Punjab and Haryana, with the weather largely remaining dry in both the states.

Union Territory of Chandigarh recorded a high of 34.5 degrees Celsius, the MeT department said here.

In Haryana, Ambala and Hisar recorded maximum temperatures of 33.5 and 35.5 degrees Celsius.

Amritsar in Punjab registered a high of 35.2 degrees, while the maximum temperatures in Ludhiana and Patiala were recorded at 33.6 and 34.4 degrees Celsius.

According to the MeT forecast, light to moderate rain or thunder showers may occur at isolated places in the two states over the next two days.
