Mercury touches 44 deg C in Himachal

Paonta Sahib and Una recorded maximum temperatures at 44 deg C, five deg C above normal and mercury soared to 31 deg C in state capital Shimla, seven deg C above normal.

It was a closed day today and in spite of partially overcast sky, there was no fall in maximum temperature which increased by one to two deg C across the state.

Sundernagar recorded a high of 40.5 deg C, followed by Bhunter 38.2 deg C, Nahan 37.9 deg C, Dharamshala 36.2 deg C Solan 35.8 deg C and Kalpa 26.6 deg C, three to five deg C above normal.

 

Nahan was hottest in the region at night with minimum temperature staying six deg C above normal at 28.8 deg C followed by Dharamsala 25.7 deg C, Mandi 24.3 deg C, Una 24.0 deg C, Sundernagar 22.8 deg C, Solan 21 deg C and Shimla 20.8 deg C, 5.5 deg C above normal.

The local MeT office has predicted dry weather during next 24 hours with no appreciable Rise in mercury.
