Metal stocks continued to remain under pressure today, falling up to 3 per cent, following a subdued global trend in aluminium and other base metals.
Shares of Vedanta went down by 2.63 per cent, Tata Steel 2.01 per cent, Hindalco Industries 1.92 per cent, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd 1.84 per cent, National Aluminium Company 1.78 per cent, Steel Authority of India 1.58 per cent and JSW Steel 0.83 per cent on BSE.
The BSE metal index lost 1.43 per cent to end at 14,128.14.
The stocks remained weak following subdued global trends amid softening of the US sanctions on Russian producer Rusal.
"... metal lost its sheen due to weak global cues," said Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Financial Services.
