Maharashtra Federation of the University and College Teachers' Organisation (MFUCTO) today deferred its 'pen down' agitation slated for tomorrow, following intervention by the Higher Education Minister Vinod Tawde.

"The 'pen down' agitation the university and collegiate teachers are scheduled to start from Monday stands withdrawn," Prof. Dr. Pravin Raghuwanshi, President of NUTA and executive member of MFUCTO told PTI.

He said the decision was taken in the MFUCTO meeting held at Mumbai today wherein it was decided to "grant some time" to the minister in view of his "positive approach" towards addressing the demands of teachers.

"The minister is in favour of our demands, but he has sought some time to study them. MFUCTO has considered his request in today's meeting and decided to withdraw the agitation," said Raghuwanshi.
