"The Ministry of Home Affairs is considering amendments to the provision of IPC relating to rape," Krishna Tirath, Minister of State in the Women and Child Development, said today.

Tirath also said that Working Group on Women's Agency and Empowerment for XII Five Year Plan constituted by the Planning Commission had recommended the review of existing provisions of the IPC with regard to the definition of rape and language used in Section 509 of IPC.

"Inclusion of stalking as an offence was also recommended," Tirath said.

Tirath also said that the Union Government had formulated a revised proforma for medical examination report for sexual assault and three central government hospitals in Delhi had been instructed to implement the revised format.

She, however, added that health was a state subject and the central government was not competent to impose a ban on other kinds of tests. PTI ADS
