MIAL, Vistara commence cell phone boarding pass facility

In their bid to deliver eco-friendly passenger convenience, Mumbai Airport and the newest full-service airline Vistara today began offering mobile phone boarding pass facility on a pilot basis.

The Tata Group-Singapore Airlines promoted Vistara operates from Terminal 2 of the GVK Group Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL).

The first of its kind initiative by Mumbai Airport, helps provide Vistara's customers a truly seamless travel experience, the airport said in a statement.

Vistara's customers travel out of Mumbai's T2 terminal to New Delhi, Goa, Bangalore, and Ahmedabad, it said.

Vistara's customers using the facility for their travel from Mumbai T2 will need to choose -- Get Mobile boarding pass/Collect by SMS -- option when checking-in online or on mobile app.
 

The SMS from Vistara will contain the booking details and the link to access the mobile boarding pass, it said.

"We continually look for ways to enhance our customers' travel experience by harnessing the power of technology and offering operational and service excellence.

"We are extremely pleased to partner with MIAL and we look forward to offering these capabilities across our existing and upcoming route network," Vistara Chief Executive Officer Phee Teik Yeoh said.

Commenting on the initiative, MIAL Chief Executive Officer Rajeev Jain said, "Mobile devices assume centre stage of consumer convenience in the modern day ecosystem.

Technology enabled innovation has become the trigger for differentiation and MIAL has consistently pioneered to introduce passenger-focused innovations.
