Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday ordered an inquiry into the allegations that poor quality mid-day meal was being provided to students of government schools by NGOs.
Sonowal directed Principal Secretary of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department Biswaranjan Samal to conduct an inquiry into the allegations and submit a report within a month, an official release said here.
NGOs have been given the responsibility to serve mid- day meal to government schools from this month. Allegations regarding the quality of food have been raised by authorities of several schools, children and guardians.
The chief minister also directed that the earlier arrangement of providing mid-day meal to students will continue till the inquiry is complete, the release said.
