Midmark India, a provider of medical, dental and veterinary equipment solutions, today inaugurated the country's first nano technology-based medical device manufacturing plant at Umbergaon in Gujarat.

The fully automated manufacturing unit in Valsad district has processes at par with global standards for medical devices accepted by leading healthcare companies, Midmark said in a statement.

The facility was inaugurated by John Baumann, President & Global CEO, Midmark Corporation.

Working in tandem with the government's 'Make in India' initiative, the plant showcases Midmark's commitment to supply 100 per cent indigenous medical devices and equipment for India's growing healthcare needs. The facility will now see an increase of 40 per cent in the company's production capacity, the statement said here.

"At the plant, we have introduced advanced technology that will create a positive impact on the Indian healthcare industry, which stands at an inflection point today," said Baumann.

"Our vision is to bridge the gaps that exist in India's healthcare ecosystem with the strength of our century- old experience and success in enhancing patient comfort and care while remaining competitive for the healthcare service providers."

Midmark is well-positioned to support the Indian healthcare device industry with apt localisations and innovations that meet global standards but are effective for the specific needs of a domestic healthcare provider, he said.

"Our precision-driven manufacturing process and the advanced technology added in this new facility will help deliver value-added capability to the Indian healthcare sector."

Midmark India is a fully-owned subsidiary of the US- based company.
