Mild earthquake hits Egypt

A low intensity earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale has jolted the Cairo-Suez road here.

The earthquake hit (10:01pm,local time) yesterday night in an area called Wadi Hagoul.

Hatem Ouda, the head of the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research, said that this area is known for moderate earthquakes.

Ouda also said that only residents of some places in Cairo and cities in the Suez Canal zone felt the tremors.

"No casualties have been reported," he told the Middle East News Agency (MENA).
