Mild snowfall in Himachal's tribal areas, mountain passes

The mercury levels rose across Himachal Pradesh and minimum temperatures stayed five to eight notches above normal even as the MeT office here warned of heavy snowfall or rains in mid and higher hills on February 19.

The high altitude tribal areas had another spell of fresh snowfall ann Keylongand Udaipur in Lahaul and Spiti district recorded 4 cm snow while Rohtang and Kunzam passes and high altitude tribal areas recorded 10 cm to 15 cm of snow.

Kothi and surrounding areas near Manali recorded 4 mm rains.

The local MeT office has warned of heavy rains or snow at isolated places in mid and higher hills on February 19.
 

It has alos predicted rains or snow at few places in mid and higher hills over next four days and rains or thundershowers at isolated places in lower hills and dry weather in the region from February 22 onwards.

The sky remained partially clouded and chilly winds swept the mid and higher hills while lower hills experienced warmer days.
