A mild tremor hit Nepal's western Dailekh district on Friday, triggering panic among people who rushed out of their homes in open areas.

The magnitude 4 earthquake was felt at 1.53 PM with epicentre located at Bhawani area of Dailekh district, 650 km from Kathmandu, according to National Seismological Department of Nepal.

No casualty or property damage has been reported so far, officials said.

The epicentre of the quake lies some 250 km North of Nepal-India border.

This was not an aftershock of the deadly April 2015 earthquake, it was rather a fresh tremor, according to the officials.

The April 2015 earthquake had killed nearly 9,000 people and injured nearly 22,000.
