Commandos attached to Imphal west district police station launched a combing operation at Pishumthong area near here yesterday during which the militant identified as Irom Pathou was arrested.
Pathou confessed to the police that he joined the outfit with the help of another militant identified as Maimu Singh in 2011 October and has been allegedly involved in extortion of money from government employees, business persons and serving monetary demand letters to different people.
He has been handed over to Imphal west district police station for further interrogation, sources said.
