Unidentified militants today shot dead a 70-year-old former member of anti-Taliban peace committee in northwestern Pakistan's Swat district.
Saadullah Khan was killed near his house in Matta town area of Khyber Pakthunkhwa province. The assailants managed to flee the spot.
A police official said Khan was associated with the peace committee between 2009 and 2010 when the Pakistan army had launched 'Rah-e-Raast' operation against militants.
No one has claimed responsibility for the killing but Taliban often target locals who supported military operation in Swat valley.
Curfew has been imposed in the area to hunt down the attackers, police said.
The Pakistan army had set up these committees in 2009 to help the security forces nab militants after most of them fled after the operation.
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan had challenged government writ in Swat during insurgency in 2009 and were flushed out by the security forces after operation in the district.
At least 60 elders have been mysteriously assassinated in the past a few months in Swat and neighbouring Buner districts.
